A healthy mouth for a healthy pet.
Most pets will have some form of dental disease in their lifetime. The link between the dental health of a cat or dog and their overall wellness is surprisingly direct.
Pets can be very good at hiding these issues from us and may not be showing any obvious outward signs of disease. Despite their ability to hide dental pain, problems with the mouth can be very uncomfortable for your pet, and oral infections can eventually enter the bloodstream and affect the heart if left unchecked.
Dental disease is easily preventable with regular cleanings. The skilled doctors at Ironhorse Veterinary Care have the capability to perform a wide variety of dental procedures.
- Digital dental radiographs
- Full mouth charting
- Scaling and polishing
- Dental nerve blocks
- Extractions
- Oral surgery
For dental procedures, as with all surgical procedures, we adhere to a strict safety protocol. Patients undergo pre-operative screening to ensure they are a healthy anesthetic candidate. We closely monitor blood pressure, heart rate, ECG, and temperature by an anesthesia technician throughout the procedure.
During anesthesia, your pet will be intubated to protect their airway and have an intravenous catheter for IV fluid support.
Ironhorse Veterinary Care takes great pride in pain management for our surgical patients. We will suppress pain before, during, and after the procedure with appropriate medications to make sure your companion is comfortable in our hospital and at home.
After your pet’s cleaning, we will provide you with detailed instructions on how take care of your pet's dental health while at home.
